Overall, this involves a construction phase covering around 100,000 m\u00b2 of space spread across eight office buildings plus three parking garages. It also includes space for company restaurants (around 3,000 m\u00b2 in total) as well as retail space and space for external restaurants or caf\u00e9s (around 3,000 m\u00b2). Module 1 is being built on a Siemens site in the south of Erlangen and is scheduled to be completed by the start of 2020. A corresponding contract for integrated facility management with a duration of five years was signed in Munich at the start of May. Commencement of service is January 1, 2020. Apleona has already been supporting Siemens since June this year as part of preparations for operation.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the Comfy app developed by Siemens, another part of the agreement is that Apleona will contribute to the joint further development of mobile applications for smartphones for the up to 7,000 employees on module 1 of the campus. This will make the day-to-day work of the employees significantly more comfortable and modern compared to traditional office locations and workplace concepts as a result of a fault report function developed by Apleona, for example. In addition, further digital solutions and applications (including sensor systems) will be developed to improve the efficiency of space utilization for the Siemens Campus and to cut maintenance costs in the medium term; one way of cutting maintenance costs will be need-based cleaning, for example. Management of services on the entire campus is also supported by a BIM model, which provides the property team with quick access to structural and technical matters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">Dr. Jochen Keysberg, CEO of Apleona: \u201cApleona now offers integrated facility management together with integrated digital solutions upon request. Especially for the implementation and optimization of the new Siemens office environment with the aid of digital Apleona solutions. It is also clear that the successes achieved here are to be applied at other locations,\u201d emphasized Norman Michael, head of Siemens Real Estate Deutschland, with regard to the signing of the five-year facility management contract.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><strong>About the Siemens Campus Erlangen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">Siemens AG is building the Siemens Campus Erlangen in the south of the city of Erlangen. The campus is designed to be modern and sustainable and is scheduled to be completed by 2030. In the coming years, the Siemens site in the south of Erlangen will gradually be transformed into one of the most modern Siemens locations anywhere in the world. Future-oriented office, research, and laboratory workspaces will be established there. With state-of-the-art building and energy services, the Siemens Campus is being developed as the first carbon-neutral Siemens location anywhere in the world. Furthermore, a new urban residential and living environment is to be developed on the premises. Siemens will become part of the city like never before. The open conception of the Siemens Campus, which is based on a draft from the Frankfurt-based architecture firm KSP J\u00fcrgen Engel Architekten, will eliminate barriers between the company and society and enable an exchange of views and ideas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\">The construction project has an anticipated investment volume of around EUR 500 million and extends across an area of 54 hectares. The Siemens Campus underlines the company\u2019s long-term commitment to the Erlangen location and is intended as a symbol of innovation for employees as well as for the region.
